Oxnard police officers assisted the Oxnard Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel with an uncooperative subject requiring medical attention. It was initially reported that the subject had been drinking and was hallucinating. The subject of the call has been identified as 24 year-old Oxnard resident Michael Owens, whom was in possession of a knife and was actively cutting his wrists. Emergency Medical Services personnel, who were still on scene, engaged in life saving efforts after the shooting.
