INFO:
This is a small tibia (shin bone) of a toothless dinosaur called a caenagnathid. It was discovered near Drumheller, Alberta. It helps to clarify several features that can distinguish between tibiae of different kinds of meat-eating dinosaurs. Thin sections allowed us to see the cell structure of the bone, and show that it was growing relatively rapidly and had probably just passed its first birthday when it died. © Gregory Funston and the University of Alberta.
