INFO:
ABORT POINT AND POINT OF NO RETURN This is a quick guide to give you an idea. There a lot of factors in setting up these two. This includes vessels maneuverability, tide restrictions, external factors like squat and weather conditions, etc. An example of PONR in tide restricted passage is when you can only pass an area at high tide but when you want to go back, the tide is already falling. An example of ABORT POINT with vessel’s maneuverability is when you have a big alteration ahead with navigational dangers near the area. Your turning circle only allows you a limited window to start the alteration and if you pass a certain point or the abort point, you're in a big risk to overshoot. Setting the distance requires an in-depth analysis. Factors like strong wind, squat effect, etc. must be taken into account as these can greatly increase your turning circle.
